After raising a family while running a small business, I value the ethic of hard work. Maria McCarthy is another excellent choice chosen by voters for Yarra Ranges Council. I had dealings with Maria when passing on information of interested colleges interested in filling in the Swinburne gap. Maria chairs that committee on which Michael Matthews is also on to find a suitable replacement for Swinburnes' shortsighted decision to abandon the Lilydale Campus in favour of growing the white elephant at Hawthorn.
With modern use of open learning on internet and out high dollar I predict its unlikely Hawthorn will have much of a life left in it and the hands-on on TAFES and the like will still need students to attend real live classrooms and workshops.. BAD MOVE SWINBURNE for giving up its grass roots history for its higher learning University status.The reality is that Melbourne Uni is still the premium university which I doubt any of the others will ever be able to earn in status, but thats what some of these Chancellors are trying to achieve I bet.
TAIWANESE have come to Yarra Valley seeking farm work, they dont get the dole they want to work as they earn 5 to 6 times more in Australia than their own countries. I have some unemployed Taiwanese living in my Lilydale Rooming House, so if any of your farmer readers need some young and fit hard working university graduates to work on their farms picking strawberries and any other fruits or vegies, or need garden work..weeding etc do contact us asap.
