Victoria Invests $350 Million For Chirnside Park Development

Lets hope the COLDSTREAM is next in line to get some money.  We could do with a face lift and a lot more!

The Brumby Labor Government has cleared the path for a $350 million development of Chirnside Park’s newest community with the potential to create jobs.

Planning Minister Justin Madden said the proposed redevelopment of the Eastridge site will include a mix of housing, retail, entertainment and community uses in an attractive liveable community.

Mr Madden fast-tracked the proposal by approving an amendment to the Yarra Ranges Planning Scheme to rezone the Eastridge site from an industrial zone to a business and residential zone, allowing it to be redeveloped for a mix of residential, retail, entertainment and community uses.

“Maintaining liveability and safeguarding housing affordability depends on making good planning decisions now and there is a growing demand for housing options in Yarra Ranges,” he said.,

I wonder what sort of face lift you want Mario?

I'm interested to hear your 'future vision' for Coldstream in your blog.

Of course, luckily we will live in a democracy.

MY VISION for Coldstream is to have the UGB expanded with the focal point being the POST OFFICE and IGA.

Draw concentric circles around the Post Office and expand :Coldstream along the North side of Killara Rd
:in the so called "police paddocks
:behind the houses in Station St
and to the
:west of the gateway estate.

My vision includes a retirement village near the post office
and blocks of land starting off at 400 m2 and ending up at 1500m2 as one moves from the post office.

I see more retail near the post office.
I see more commercial near the Pub.

Rosie, what do you see?

I don't see it the way you paint it, Mario.

What I see is a rural township on the border of the metropolitan area, being absorbed by the suburbs.

When does the boundary of the suburbs end?

If your vision were effected, Mario, I guess it would be Yarra Glen. Oh, wait, that's already been carved up. I guess there goes Yerring too!!

To sustain any more commercial development in Coldstream, you'd need a far greater population affording their custom to the 'proposed' businesses.

Cramming a few more homes in our lovely existing estate won't be sufficient.

I would like to see a portion of the land on the west side of the highway opened from the Green Wedge to enable some commercial and residential development. When i say 'commercial', considering we are in a tourist area, surrounded by farms and wineries, I would like to see commercial ventures that would support the tourist industry. We can go down the road to Lilydale if we want Coles or Bunnings.
