Drunken antics: grape festival hits sour note

THE Yarra Valley has taken a tourist hit with organisers of the grape grazing festival forced to shut down the event amid concerns boozy revellers were destroying the iconic event.

The grape grazing festival was held last April after the original event planned for February was cancelled due to Black Saturday and the ongoing threat of bushfires in the Yarra Valley.

Yarra Valley Wine Growers Association general manager Richard Howden said the association in consultation with wineries would review the format of the event and look at other dates away from the bushfire season.
