A WEAPONS amnesty is in place for October.
Residents wanting to surrender any unwanted or illegal firearms or other weapons can hand them in at any police station until October 31.
Deputy Commissioner Ken Jones said weapons must be transported safely and directly to a station, or officers could collect the weapons, provided the person signed a notice of abandonment.
