Rates not value for money

AS Mooroolbark residents we were horrified to find our rates had increased a whopping 33.2 per cent from last year. To our surprise we found our valuation had increased by 29.1 per cent over two years.
How can Yarra Ranges Council justify such a mammoth increase?
I also read that our rates are again going to fund capital works in Sherbrooke ($7.5 m), Healesville ($7.2 m), and Monbulk ($5.47 m).
Clearly very little is being spent in the areas responsible for raising the rates, ie Mooroolbark, Chirnside, Lilydale and Kilsyth.
How many others believe their rates are excessive or they are not getting value for money?

Ripped off, posted online to find your quickest bus route to and from home. Bus improvements will occur if there are enough people to warrant the cost.
Try walking or cycling to the station, or car pool.
Please don’t let them ‘‘pave paradise and put up a parking lot’’.
Rebecca Blowfield, posted online the Toolangi area. It proposes to bring in 30,000 tourists a year, employ 50 or so people, and it will benefit locals and other business operators. It encourages people to come and enjoy the Toolangi forest. It’s a win-win all round. Who wouldn’t want it?
