Population Growth

This map shows the expected population growth within the Yarra Ranges to 2036. As you can see it has minimal growth.

I am concerned with this small growth in population over the next 25 years and what effect it will have on the area as a whole.

I suspect that infrastructure will come to a halt as we will not have enough people to warrant it.

Businesses will continue to struggle and the Shire will become tired and neglected.

What do you think? Should we encourage more people to move to the Yarra Ranges and if so do we need to look at the UGB (Urban Growth Boundry) around all the small townships in the Valley?

Hi Mario,

Haven't read all the posts and decided tonight to go though them.... then I saw this.

The biggest problem with our shire is that it's 'green.' No one wants to move here except, perhaps, for greenies. Our rates will probably become explosive because of the the 'green' causes they want implemented.

Word outside our shire is that this is the last place to be - which is a shame but proves that bad government = loss of population or no population growth.

Did you know they... or should I say a certain councillor - is planning on having every resident go carbon neutral? That's the plan. This would mean the council would somehow get all our utility bills, probably go around on the pretext of giving us a 'free' energy audit or some such nonsense, and then tell us how much we are 'allowed' to use. Should we go over the budget they set for us, we'll be wacked with a fine or made to purchase RECS.

Who would want to live in a plce that does this?

The Shire will NOT buy RECs. I believe this is good news. Read the article I posted today.
