Coalition Government commits $61 million to rural fire stations

"The Victorian Coalition Government will continue its commitment to boost the state’s emergency services infrastructure by rebuilding rural fire stations, Minister for Police and Emergency Services Kim Wells announced today.

“The Coalition Government is delivering on it’s commitment to upgrade 250 CFA stations over our first term in government.

“We are providing further funding of $61 million in the 2013-14 Victorian Budget to replace dilapidated and ageing rural fire stations ignored by the previous Labor Government for more than a decade,” Mr Wells said. "

Comment:  our FSL at work.. I think Coldstream CFA will be updated.

Its about time that the State Government put more money in without the CFA having to go begging for donations every year from their local communities. I'm thinking the new Levy was designed to collect more than was previously collected from the Insurance Levy but anyone can correct me if anyone knows how much extra or less will be collected under the new system.

NOW what about the insurance industry pay some money to the CFA for the savings in payouts every time the CFA put out fires who save them millions in both fire damage and loss of life.?

The insurance industry has been getting lots of benefits from State Governments and the Federal Govt Superannuation Levy directing $trillions in funds under investment into the Insurance Corporations and I hope they have not been giving donations to ex-politicians Lobby group companies to keep their treasure chest of beneficial legislation instead of directing more to the various local CFA groups.

Anyone who knows if any insurance companies have donated to CFA before...please advise...otherwise I'd be prepared to start lobbying on behalf of CFA to direct some funds their way and to support the many volunteers too.
