LAND in the Latrobe Valley's four major towns will be rezoned to be developed into about 3500 housing lots.
Sate Planning Minister Matthew Guy will fast-track the rezoning by amending the Latrobe Planning Scheme to address the region's land shortage.
``Planning for an additional 50,000 people in the region is critical,'' Mr Guy said in a media statement yesterday.
``This rezoning is expected to boost local construction jobs, improve housing affordability, better integrate planning processes and increase housing diversity.''
