Victorians have been warned to brace for more hip pocket pain with legislation for a new charge to replace the Fire Services Levy to be introduced in Parliament.
The levy, which helps pay for the Country Fire Authority and Metropolitan Fire Brigade, will be replaced by a new property-based tax.
Every homeowner will have to pay, not just those who choose insurance, by mid-2013.
Comment: This is NOT a NEW fee for a lot of us who take out insurance. I hope it will be a REDUCED fee as more people are forced to pay the fire service levy, for those of us that have been subsidizing the uninsured.
