New Houses In Coldstream: dual occupancy

At the Council meeting Tuesday night a question was asked from the public in relation to possible new houses in the estate. I now post the question here so that the issues contained may be clarified.

"Is Council planning to inform the residents of Coldstream by letter re its proposed change to the Coldstream Estate?

It seems dual occupancy is raising an ugly head and most people I've spoken to from the estate are NOT in favour of this type of development.

Could we please be kept informed - the local paper is not regularly being delivered so we can't use that!'
The response will be prepared by James Larmour-Reid, Director Planning ,Building and Health."

I will post the Shire response as soon as it available, in the meantime, I have asked one of the builders to explain what is going on and why.

This will be in my next post.

Dual occupancy typically refers to the building of a second dwelling behind an existing dwelling. Just like subdividing land, there is no minimum land size required for a dual occupancy development.
