More homes approved for our growing capital city

More homes approved for our growing capital city

Planning Minister Matthew Guy has approved a new precinct structure plan (PSP) for Truganina South, providing thousands of Victorian would-be home buyers with the chance to own their own home.
The Truganina South PSP provides for 2,500 dwellings, which could accommodate up to 7,000 people.
Mr Guy said the 250 hectare site is 19 kilometres south west of Melbourne’s CBD, in an area bounded by Leakes Road and Palmers Road (north of Hoppers Crossing).
“The Victorian Coalition Government committed to improving housing accessibility and affordability for every family and that’s what we are doing,” Mr Guy said.
“Approximately 90,000 people move to Victoria each year and this government is committed to doing all it can to accommodate this population growth.
“The Coalition is on target to release 50,000 new housing lots this year, as well as approving appropriate apartment developments in the inner city area,” Mr Guy said.
The PSP also provides for community facilities, open space, sporting facilities, a local town centre, a business centre and two schools.
A developer contributions plan has been laid out that will collect $48 million for community infrastructure, including the construction of the surrounding arterial road network.
“Many Victorians are choosing to live in Melbourne’s west for the lifestyle and close proximity to the city and Geelong. The Growth Areas Authority has worked closely with the Wyndham City Council to achieve this fantastic outcome for Truganina South,” Mr Guy said.
