Planning scheme information

Minister for Planning Matthew Guy today announced two new online services to improve accessibility to Victoria's planning schemes.

The PlanningVIC: Planning Property Report iPhone app and the Planning Scheme Histories Online Service provide simple access to planning scheme information.

"The Planning Property Report iPhone app is a free service that enables iPhone users to search for and generate a planning property report for any property in Victoria," Mr Guy said.

"It complements the planning property report service that is currently available by making the service mobile. Importantly, planning information is available at the fingertips of anyone who has an interest – planners, builders, real estate agents and the general community.

"Using GPS technology, property details such as the zoning and overlay controls and any state heritage information that applies to the land can now be accessed while standing on-site," Mr Guy said.

The Planning Scheme Histories Online Service is a comprehensive self-service index that allows immediate, free access to the complete historical record of all new format planning schemes since 1997.

Mr Guy noted that in the past it took considerable research to collate historical planning control information.

"This one-stop-shop will save a significant amount of searching time," Mr Guy said.

The Planning Scheme Histories Online Service is now available from the Department of Planning and Community Development website www.dpcd.vic.gov.au/planningschemehistory.

The PlanningVIC: Planning Property Report iPhone app is available from the Apple iTunes Store or the DPCD website www.dpcd.vic.gov.au/planning.
