Hi Gil

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

Its taken almost 20 years, but Victoria is abolishing the FSL levies (which are in fact being moved to Council Rates)

There will be a significant savings (on insurance) in the future. The councils are indicating a fixed fee for the New Fire Levy (which will be cheaper than having it bundled in an insurance policy)

There also a[appears to be some uncertainly regarding any rebated fees. (We have received memos from almost all insurers indicating that they will not be providing any return premium for Fire Services levies.)

Aside from the “what if” factors, I am confident the Financial Service Ombudsman’s office (FOS) will be doing its utmost to keep the peace.

I’m sure there will be some media attention on this as it gets closer to the date.
